Rayapati Venkata Ranga Rao & Jagarlamudi Chandramouli (RVR&JC) College of Engineering is one of the largest and one of the oldest engineering colleges in the State of Andhra Pradesh which started during the year 1985.It is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Nagarjuna Education Society. Today eight educational institutions are functioning under this banner with RVR&JC being the flag-ship of them completing 25 years of excellence and ready to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2010. Started with just three streams with minimum number of staff and students, now it has one of the highest intakes in the state of Andhra Pradesh and offering Under Graduate Courses in B.Tech (Civil, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Bio-Technology) and P.G courses like MCA, MBA, Post-Graduation in Engineering like M.Tech (CS), CAD-CAM for Mechanicals, Structural Engineering for Civil Engineering & Power Systems for Electrical Engineering. It has been accreditated by NBA three times and ranks second in the state neglecting the two university campuses. The college is a typical example of meticulous planning, resource scheduling, human endeavor and institutional management. Our mission is an integrated development of manpower possessing technological and managerial skills, values and ethics needed to make an honorable living in the society. COllege also has been listed in top 100 engineering colleges in India in Outlook Magazine.
About Guntur
Guntur is one of the districts of Andhra Pradesh bounded by Krishna district and Bay of Bengal in the East, while on its south lies Prakasam district, in the west Mahabubnagar district and Krishna and Nalgonda districts in the North. The rivers Krishna, Chandravanka, Naagileru, and Gundla Kamma flow through the district. The major places of the district are Guntur, Bapatla, Tenali, Narasaraopeta and Ponnur. It is spread over an area of 11391 Sq.kms. According to 2001 Census the population of the district is 4405.52 comprising of 2220.30 males and 2185.21 females.
Agriculture is one of the main occupation of the people of Guntur. The crops that are grown are Jowar, Cotton, Turmeric, Maize, Paddy with Paddy being the major one. Also Arhar, Chillies, Sugarcane, and Sesame. The district is also involved in the mining of Limestone. The industries that contribute to the revenue of the state are Tobacco, Handloom, Silk, Sangam Dairy, Cement Factories at Thadepalli and Macherla, Andhra Fertilizers and Jute mill at Guntur.
Durgistone craft is a popular handicraft of the region. Water is supplied to the farming lands of Guntur from the Nagarjuna Sagar Right bank, Buckingham Canal of the Krishna Barrage, dam constructed across Naguleru river at Dachepalli. The district receives electricity through Nagarjuna Sagar Project and Machkand Project. Guntur is well connected by road and rail. It is an important railway junction of the Southern India.
